Historically, one of the guiding principles of Bohemian fashion has been to break free from the shackles of convention. Although Boho fashion has to a certain extent entered the mainstream, it remains true to its origins sharing very few elements with other stylistic schools of thought, but still being influenced by a uniquely feminine expression of individuality.
In fact, the Bohemian style is a relatively young aspect of the continued evolution of women's style having its origins in the 1960's and the inspiration supplied during this era can still be seen in many of the stylistic elements that continue to guide Boho styling.
Womens Boho fashion could be characterized as having an approach that is free, artistic and committed to the idea of individual expression. We are always trying to keep up with the fashion clothes for women as one of our goals. That way we are always on the cutting edge of fashion.
There are a number of characteristics that the modern womens Boho fashion continues to leverage in the continual search for that harmonious expression of unique style.
The first of these is the use of natural fabrics. These fabrics will typically include denim, cotton, linen and silk. Chiffon, fur and leather are also used to construct the perfect Boho outfit.
The second is the multi layered textures with an emphasis on comfort. This emphasis is particularly apparent in the shoes that make up an essential part of any Boho ensemble. The shoes usually feature heels that are not too high and there is often a focus on styles such as wedges and platform shoes.
If there is a single aspect as far as accessories are concerned when it comes to Boho fashion it is the sheer number that compliment the clothing aspect of the Boho expression of style. Accessories can range from belts and earrings to assorted different types of jewelry such as bracelets. Sunglasses are also seen by many as essential – and many styles have a distinctly ‘retro' feel to them.
There is also a marked preference for natural hues and colors. As far as patterns are concerned modern Boho still takes it ques from the origins in the 60's. Floral patterns are still at the core of the stylistic expression of Boho – these patterns are complimented by ethnic prints, checks and more avant guard patterning.
As far as clothing components are concerned modern Boho fashion remains true to its roots. High-waisted design remains extremely popular and is in fact one of the core elements of Boho chic. Flares remain part of the overall look and fringed clothing is still part and parcel of the style. Knitted detail remains popular and maxi skirts will be found in the wardrobe of anyone committed to the idea of stylish Boho expression.
Those who adhere to the sometimes unwritten rules of Boho chic maintain that there should never be more than 4 shades in the combinations that are used to obtain the Boho fashion look. The combinations should be complimentary such as grey, black, brown and beige – however these should be enlivened by highlighting with touches of brighter colors such as vibrant reds and possibly golds, especially when it comes to accessories.
Boho chic has become almost timeless and is a unique expression of individuality. It looks set to remain so for the foreseeable future.
